Ministry of National Defense statements on CAATSA and F-35: Will the sanctions be lifted?

Ministry officials stated that if CAATSA sanctions are lifted, the F-35 procurement process will be re-evaluated. Noting that they 'anticipate an increase in defense industry cooperation with the US,' the sources recorded that this issue was addressed in the meeting between the President and the US President.

MSB sources announced that an agreement was reached on establishing a joint operations center during talks with the new Syrian government. It was reported that efforts are underway to establish a base for training purposes to increase the capacity of the Syrian army.

Regarding a question about Greek soldiers chanting anti-Turkey slogans, MSB sources replied, 'The TSK is an army that stands out with its discipline and ethics. It does not exhibit such behavior.'

Evaluating the possibility of lifting CAATSA sanctions, officials announced that it is possible to reach a consensus with the US on this issue. MSB sources pointed out that if US officials abandon the sanctions imposed on Turkey, the purchase of F-35s could return to the agenda.

Referring to the ministerial-level meeting held in Jordan on March 9, officials emphasized that five countries have agreed on the fight against DAESH. It was stated that the preservation of Syria's territorial integrity is of importance to Turkey.

Regarding a question about the reopening of the Grain Corridor, which allows Ukraine to export agricultural products to the world, officials stated, 'No official decision has been made, but we are ready to prevent a food crisis.' At the end of the meeting, it was stated that Turkey will continue to contribute to regional peace.
