A disaster was narrowly averted during the "Marshal Force 2025" exercise held in the Altenerding region, located northeast of Munich, Germany. Soldiers conducting training in a public area as part of the exercise were spotted by the public while positioned around a farm barn and reported to the police.

A large number of police were dispatched to the region upon the report. Seeing the police arrive, the soldiers in the exercise, thinking this was part of their training, fired training rounds at the supposed enemy force. Upon this, the police teams responded to the soldiers conducting the exercise with live ammunition. In the unbelievable incident, one of the soldiers in the exercise was slightly injured. The soldier, whose life is not in danger, was taken under treatment at the hospital.

While no official statement has been made regarding the incident that occurred during the exercise, in which approximately 800 soldiers participated and fire and rescue teams were also involved, the German press claimed that the police teams who arrived at the scene upon the citizen's report were unaware of the exercise.

It was reported that the scenario of the exercise was aimed at improving the ability of alliance forces, as well as military and civilian forces, to act together in the event of an invasion of a NATO country.
