Mobile phones in Iran opened for international calls
Following days of communication restrictions in Iran, mobile phones were opened for international calls today.

In Iran, demonstrations that began on December 28, 2025, in response to the high cost of living and turned into anti-government protests have seen violent incidents, with at least 646 people losing their lives. The Iranian government cut off internet and telephone communications on Thursday as the protests intensified.
Following the statement made yesterday by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi that "the internet will soon be accessible again," communication with the local population was established today.
Mobile phones across the country were opened for international calls today. Iranians reported that text messaging is still disabled and the internet remains shut down.
INTERNET OUTAGE APPROACHES 5TH DAY
According to the cybersecurity monitoring organization NetBlocks, approximately 5 days have passed since the nationwide internet blackout in Iran went into effect.
The London-based monitoring group reported that national internet connectivity in Iran is at approximately 1 percent of normal levels.
