A passenger ship traveling from Kyrenia to Taşucu has capsized off the coast of Kyrenia in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. It was reported that there were a total of 267 people on board, including passengers and crew.

Following the accident, 3 coast guard boats and 3 civilian vessels were dispatched to the area. Ambulance and police teams were also sent to the scene. It was announced that search and rescue operations are ongoing.

TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel stated that the process is being monitored by the Crisis Center established after the accident. Üstel announced that 237 of the 267 people on board have been rescued, 7 people have lost their lives, and there is still no word from 23 people.
