More than 9,000 people have left the island of Santorini following hundreds of earthquakes that have occurred off the coast of the Greek tourist island since Saturday.

Thousands of people have been evacuated as a result of earthquakes felt in the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea, particularly on the Greek tourist island of Santorini.
Following hundreds of earthquakes that have occurred since Saturday, more than 9,000 people have left the island of Santorini. While the latest earthquake in the region occurred at 15:04 local time with a magnitude of 5.3, experts claimed that these earthquakes are not linked to the Santorini Volcano.
Greek seismologist Gerasimos Papadopoulos stated that the ongoing seismic activity in the region is attempting to rupture the fault line but is encountering strong resistance, and warned that more earthquakes could occur in the area.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will lead a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection tomorrow to assess the earthquakes in the region and determine whether additional measures are necessary.
