Move from the wife of the Prime Minister whose passport was seized: She applied to the court for the NATO Summit in Ankara

Begoña Gómez, wife of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, whose passport was seized as part of a judicial investigation in Spain, has applied to the court to be able to attend the NATO Summit to be held in Ankara. It was reported that Gómez requested special permission to travel abroad between July 7 and 10.

REQUESTED SPECIAL PERMISSION FOR THE NATO SUMMIT

According to reports in the Spanish press, Begoña Gómez's lawyer submitted a petition to the court requesting that his client be granted permission to travel abroad so that she can accompany her husband, Pedro Sánchez, to the NATO Summit to be held in Ankara on July 7-8.

The application also stated that Gómez wishes to attend her daughter's graduation ceremony in London during the same dates.

SPOUSES OF LEADERS ARE ALSO AMONG THE INVITEES

According to the reports, the spouses of the country leaders who will attend the summit were also invited to the official program as part of the NATO Summit. For this reason, it was stated that Begoña Gómez's visit to Ankara was planned within the scope of an official invitation.

BEING TRIED ON FOUR SEPARATE CHARGES

The judicial process against Begoña Gómez continues, with charges of "influence peddling," "business corruption," "embezzlement," and "misconduct in office."

Judge Juan Carlos Peinado had decided to implement precautionary measures on the grounds of "suspicion of fleeing the country," and in this context, Gómez surrendered her passport to the court on June 24.

Begoña Gómez, who is the first prime minister's spouse in Spanish history to have her passport seized, made her last official trip abroad about two months ago as part of a program in China with Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
