Netanyahu apologizes to Qatar

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a phone conversation with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani during his meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House.

During the call, Netanyahu apologized to Al-Thani for Israel violating Qatar's sovereignty with the attack it carried out on the Qatari capital, Doha, on September 9, and expressed his regret over the death of a Qatari security officer in the attack.

Diplomatic sources stated that the Qatari side took note of the apology but that expectations for a detailed explanation and assurances regarding the attack remain. Qatar is expected to provide an official response to Netanyahu's apology in the coming days.
