Netanyahu appoints new ambassador to the US

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has appointed Yechiel Leiter to the post of his country's ambassador to Washington. A written statement regarding the appointment decision was issued by the Prime Minister's Media Office. The statement noted that Netanyahu has appointed Leiter as Israel's new Ambassador to Washington. It was also stated that Leiter was born in the US and that his son, Moshe Yedidya Leiter, was killed in clashes in the northern Gaza Strip on November 10, 2023.

Leiter is expected to assume his duties after Donald Trump takes office as US President.

LIVES IN PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES

According to a report by the Jerusalem Post, Leiter previously served as a mayor in occupied territories belonging to Palestinians in the Hebron region of the West Bank.

Furthermore, it was noted that he served in an organization called the "Yesha Council," which operates in Palestinian territories in the West Bank where Israelis are active.

According to the news site "Jewish Insider," Leiter currently resides in the occupied Palestinian territories.
