Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with US social media influencers at the Israeli Consulate General in New York. Emphasizing the importance of social media for them in his speech there, Netanyahu commented, "We have to use the tools of war.

You know, weapons change according to the requirements of the time." Stating that social media platforms are also of critical importance in gaining the support of the right wing in the US for Israel, Netanyahu said, "(Social media) is the most important weapon to secure our base in the US."

Touching upon the process of selling the China-based social media platform TikTok to US firms, Netanyahu used the phrase, "It is the most important acquisition happening right now."

Claiming that gaining control over TikTok could be "decisive," Netanyahu assessed another social media platform, X, and its owner by saying, "We must talk to Elon (Musk). He is not an enemy, he is a friend." Netanyahu argued that Israel would "gain a lot" if influence is established over TikTok and X.

With the executive order signed by US President Donald Trump, the way was paved for the sale of TikTok's operations in the country to US investors, and it was reported to the public that the US-based software company Oracle would play an important role in the security of TikTok's operations in the US. The fact that Oracle founder Larry Ellison has been openly supporting Israel for years had brought about concerns that the company could use its authority regarding TikTok in favor of the Israeli administration.
