New Chief of General Staff appointed in Iran
Major General Amir Hatami has been appointed as the Chief of General Staff in Iran by the order of Ayatollah Khamenei.

The leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has appointed Major General Amir Hatami as the country's new Chief of General Staff. Hatami previously served as Minister of Defense between 2013 and 2021.
In the decree issued regarding Hatami's appointment, Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized his dedication, competence, and experience, stating that he expects a "transformative and revolutionary approach" in the military under Hatami's leadership.
The decree stated that in light of the military's capable and loyal personnel, as well as the experience gained during and after the Sacred Defense, there is a need to increase combat readiness, strengthen spiritual and ideological foundations, improve personnel welfare, and enhance cooperation with other branches of the Armed Forces.
This appointment comes following the death of General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, who lost his life as a result of Israeli attacks. After Bagheri's death, Major General Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi had been temporarily appointed to this position.
