Emphasizing that taking this step is a "great honor" for him, Trump stated that the implementation will come into effect as of June 4. Noting that the US steel and aluminum sectors have returned stronger than ever before, Trump said, "This decision will be another big and wonderful news for our magnificent steel and aluminum workers."
HE HAD INTRODUCED A 25 PERCENT CUSTOMS DUTY
US President Donald Trump had signed presidential decrees on February 10 providing for the application of a 25 percent customs duty on steel and aluminum imports.
The tariffs in question had come into effect on March 12.
