US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order for the establishment of a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and a US Digital Asset Stockpile.

David Sacks, who serves as the AI and Crypto Czar at the White House, stated in a post on social media that with this move, Trump has once again emphasized his goal of making the US a leader in the field of cryptocurrency.

Sacks stated that this reserve, which will be created using Bitcoin currently held by the federal government and seized assets, will not impose an additional burden on taxpayers.

Although it is estimated that the US government holds approximately 200 thousand Bitcoins, a full audit of these assets had not been conducted until now. With the new executive order, a comprehensive accounting of the federal government's digital assets is planned. Sacks noted that the Bitcoins in this reserve will not be sold, thereby maximizing the value of the assets. He added that past early sales had cost taxpayers more than 17 billion dollars.

Explaining that the Secretaries of the Treasury and Commerce have been authorized to develop strategies independent of the budget to acquire more Bitcoin, Sacks stated that these strategies will be implemented without creating an additional tax burden. Furthermore, under the scope of the executive order, a stockpile consisting of digital assets other than Bitcoin will also be created. Only assets obtained through seizure operations will be used for this stockpile, and no additional purchases will be made.
