New home sales in the US exceeded expectations in March

New home sales in the US rose by 8.8 percent on a monthly basis in March to 693,000, exceeding market expectations.

The US Department of Commerce released new home sales statistics for March.

Accordingly, new home sales in the country, seasonally adjusted, increased by 8.8 percent in March compared to the previous month, reaching 693,000.

New home sales, which came in above market expectations, were projected to be 668,000 for this period. New home sales had decreased by 5.1 percent in February to 637,000.

INCREASED BY 8.3 PERCENT

New home sales in the country increased by 8.3 percent in March compared to the same period last year.

The median sales price of new homes sold last month in the US fell by 1.9 percent on an annual basis to 430,700 dollars.
