New statement from Biden on the Israel-Palestine war

US President Joe Biden made statements regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Emphasizing that they have been with Israel since the conflict began, the US President described Hamas as a "terrorist organization whose stated purpose is to kill Jews." The US President stated that Hamas killed babies and young people attending a music festival to celebrate peace, and raped women.

Biden stated that Hamas does not represent the dignity and right to self-determination of the Palestinian people, and expressed that the organization uses civilians as human shields.

"WE WILL DO WHATEVER IS NECESSARY"

"We have sent our aircraft carrier to increase our deterrence," said Biden, signaling that they could increase their military presence in the region.

Reporting that his team is in contact with Israeli officials, Biden said, "We will provide them with ammunition. We will provide support for the Iron Dome. We will do whatever is necessary to protect their cities and their citizens."

Stating that police in the US are working to ensure the safety of Jewish citizens, Biden said, "There is no place for hate in the United States. Not against Jews, not against Muslims, not against anyone. We reject terror. We reject this evil."

HE WILL CALL ON CONGRESS

Stating that his administration is in close consultation with the US Congress during this process, Biden announced that he would call for urgent action "to fund the national security requirements of our critical partners."

"LET NO ONE TRY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE"

The US President said, "Let me say again, to any country, any organization, anyone thinking of taking advantage of this situation, I have one word: Don't."

14 AMERICANS DEAD, 20 MISSING

According to information provided by Biden, 14 US citizens lost their lives in Israel and some were taken hostage.

The White House also announced the number of missing Americans as at least 20.

The statement noted that these 20 people may not be hostages, but that contact simply has not yet been established with them.

THANKS FROM HERZOG

Israeli President Isaac Herzog shared a thank-you message on the social media platform X following Biden's statements.

Tagging Biden in his message, Herzog wrote:

"Thank you on behalf of all the people of Israel, Joe Biden. You have once again shown that you are a friend of Israel and the Jewish people. We are truly grateful."

STATEMENT FROM NETANYAHU

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also said the following in his message:

"I spoke with US President Joe Biden for the third time this evening. I told him that Hamas is worse than ISIS and that they should be treated as such.

President Biden reiterated that the United States stands with Israel and fully supports Israel's right to defend itself.

I thanked the President of the United States for his unconditional support."

"BIDEN AND NETANYAHU DISCUSSED GROUND OPERATION"

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan answered questions from journalists at a press conference regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Sullivan said, "The US has surged ammunition and interceptors for the Iron Dome. The President (Joe Biden) spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu a short time ago to discuss additional capabilities that Israel will need. And now, at the President's direction, we are working with Congress to ensure that Israel continues to be supplied with these critical assets to defend its cities, its citizens, and also the many US citizens who work and travel in Israel."

The National Security Advisor stated that the US military has strengthened its posture in the region, including the movement of an aircraft carrier strike group to the Eastern Mediterranean, "to strengthen deterrence," and that it is ready to move additional assets if necessary.

Stating that Biden promised that US aircraft "will land in Israel with these capabilities in the coming days," Sullivan said regarding the Israeli citizens who lost their lives, "More than 1,000 men, women, and children were killed. They were slaughtered in their homes, in their streets, in desolate fields."

Reminding that at least 14 Americans were killed in the Hamas attacks, Sullivan noted that there is no word yet on over 20 US citizens.

Sullivan said that US President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu discussed the "possibility of a ground offensive" into Gaza and exchanged views on how this would affect the US hostages in Gaza.

Sullivan stated that he would not "get into operational discussions" between the two leaders to "protect confidentiality."

National Security Advisor Sullivan also noted that the US is in consultations with Israeli and Egyptian officials on "how to deal with the problems of civilians who want to leave Gaza."
