U.S. President Donald Trump answered questions from reporters as he left the White House for the G7 summit in Canada.
Speaking about the increasingly violent clashes between Israel and Iran, Trump said, "I hope there will be a deal," reiterating a sentiment he had previously expressed on his social media account.
Trump continued as follows:
"I think it's time for a deal, and we'll see what happens. But sometimes they have to work things out themselves."

Responding to a reporter's question, "Do you agree with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on reaching a deal with Iran?", Trump stated, "We get along very well. And I think we have great respect for each other."

In response to another question, Trump reiterated that the U.S. would do what is necessary to defend Israel if needed.
