Nigerian government accuses cryptocurrency exchange: Had also imposed access restrictions
The Nigerian government has accused the cryptocurrency exchange Binance of tax evasion. Previously, an access ban had been imposed on Binance in an effort to stop illegal money transfers and the depreciation of the local currency.
The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) of Nigeria stated in an announcement that it remains committed to ensuring compliance with tax regulations and combating financial irregularities within the cryptocurrency sector.
ACCUSED OF NOT PAYING TAXES
It was noted that tax evasion charges have been filed against Binance.
Binance is accused of failing to pay taxes, failing to file tax returns, assisting platform users in evading taxes, and operating in the country without registration.
Last month, the Nigerian government imposed an access ban on Binance as part of its efforts to stop illegal money transfers and the depreciation of the local currency, the naira, in the country.
