North Korean soldiers join Russia-Ukraine war
The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR) has claimed that North Korean military units have been trained by the Russian Army and have joined the war against Ukraine.

In a written statement, the GUR claimed that the first North Korean military units trained in Russia have been brought to Russia's Kursk region, stating that 12,000 soldiers have joined the war against Ukraine.
“The first military units from North Korea, which were trained at training grounds in Eastern Russia, have already reached the combat zone of the Russia-Ukraine war.
It was noted that they appeared in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, specifically on October 23, 2024.”
According to Ukrainian intelligence officials, it is claimed that approximately 12,000 soldiers have been sent from North Korea to Russia, including 500 officers and three generals.
Furthermore, the statement included the phrase, “The soldiers are being equipped with ammunition, bedding, winter clothing and footwear, as well as hygiene supplies.”
