Notable 'Cuba' move from the US administration
The US administration has decided to remove Cuba from the "state sponsors of terrorism" list, which it was added to in the final weeks of the Donald Trump administration in 2021.

In a statement from the White House, it was announced that according to the official notification sent to Congress, Cuba will be removed from the "state sponsors of terrorism" list.
Accordingly, Cuba will be removed from the list in exchange for the release of "political prisoners" who were imprisoned in 2021.
Evaluating the process at a press briefing on the subject, a senior US official stated that there are no significant findings indicating that Cuba supports terrorism, and added that the country has made very positive contributions to the peace talks in Colombia.
It was noted that Congress, which has the authority to review the US administration's notification, is not expected to take any steps to block this decision.
Following Cuba's official removal from the list, North Korea, Iran, and Syria will remain on the list.
Former US President Barack Obama had removed Cuba from the state sponsors of terrorism list on May 29, 2015. The subsequent Trump administration had added Cuba back to the list in the final week of its term in January 2021.
