The number of people detained in the "Bloquons tout" (Let's stop everything) protests held in France against the government's austerity plan has neared 500.
The French Ministry of Interior stated that 473 people were detained in protests across the country, noting that 203 of the detentions took place in the capital, Paris. The Ministry announced that 339 of those detained have been arrested.
The Ministry stated that 175,000 people participated in the protests nationwide, and reported that 550 demonstrations and 262 barricade actions were organized.
The Ministry announced that there were "a large number of radical activists" at the protests and that they disrupted public order.
