Obama joins the debate over Biden's candidacy

It has been claimed that former US President Barack Obama has commented that current President Joe Biden's path to victory in the November 5 presidential election has narrowed and that he should reconsider the viability of his candidacy.

In a report by the Washington Post, it was stated that Obama has shared his recent concerns with his inner circle.

The report stated that Obama spoke with Biden once after the first live televised debate with his Republican rival Donald Trump on CNN on the night of June 27, and that during that conversation, he told Biden that the decision regarding his candidacy was entirely his own.

The report, which noted that Obama has received calls from many concerned Democrats, alleged that he expressed his concern during these conversations that Biden is trailing in the polls.

The report stated that Obama commented that Biden is increasingly moving away from a path to victory in the November 5 election and indicated that Biden should reconsider the viability of his candidacy.

Previously, billionaire donors to the Democratic Party had also expressed their concerns regarding President Joe Biden's candidacy.

Democratic President Biden and his Republican rival Trump, who are competing in the US presidential election to be held on November 5, faced off in their first live televised debate on CNN on the night of June 27.

The 81-year-old Biden failed to deliver a performance that would alleviate concerns about his age regarding his second-term candidacy and was subjected to intense criticism following the program.

Calls for Biden to "withdraw from the presidential election" were made by segments of the Democratic Party and some media outlets that support Biden.

Biden, however, acknowledged that his health is not what it used to be, but stated that he remains the best alternative against Trump and announced that he would not withdraw from the race.
