Official results announced in GASC elections
According to the official results of the parliamentary elections held yesterday in the Greek Administration of Southern Cyprus (GASC), the Democratic Rally (DISY) finished as the leading party with 27.1 percent of the vote, while the far-right National People's Front (ELAM) received 10.9 percent and increased its number of seats.

The official results of the parliamentary elections held yesterday in the Greek Administration of Southern Cyprus (GASC) have been announced. According to official data, 380,851 out of 569,182 registered voters in the south of the island went to the polls to cast their votes. The turnout was 66.91 percent, while the abstention rate was 33.09 percent. Of the votes cast, 97.69 percent were considered valid, while the invalid vote rate was recorded at 1.74 percent and the blank vote rate at 0.57 percent.
ELAM INCREASES NUMBER OF SEATS
The Democratic Rally (DISY) finished the election in first place with 27.1 percent of the vote, while the left-wing Progressive Party of Working People (AKEL) took second place with 23.9 percent. The far-right National People's Front (ELAM) rose to third place with 10.9 percent of the vote, increasing its number of seats in parliament. The Democratic Party (DIKO) received 10 percent support, the newly formed DIPA party 5.8 percent, and the Movement for Social Democracy (EDEK) 5.4 percent. According to the new distribution in the assembly, DISY secured 17 seats, AKEL 15, ELAM 8, DIKO 8, DIPA 4, and EDEK 4 seats.
The Movement for Social Democracy (EDEK), the Democratic Front (DIPA), and the Cyprus Greens – Citizens' Cooperation were among the parties that failed to enter the assembly. EDEK remained outside of parliament for the first time since 1970.
DISY AHEAD IN NICOSIA
In regional results, DISY took first place in Nicosia with 27.2 percent, while AKEL received 21.7 percent. ELAM reached the 10.5 percent level. In Limassol, DISY finished in the lead with 25.3 percent, while AKEL received 21.8 percent, and ELAM and DIKO each received 10.7 percent. In the Famagusta region, DISY took first place with 28.5 percent. While AKEL reached 26.5 percent, ELAM achieved a notable result with 13.5 percent. In Larnaca, AKEL became the leading party with 29.4 percent, while DISY remained at 26.6 percent. In the Paphos region, DISY was clearly in the lead with 29.5 percent, while AKEL received 22.1 percent and DIKO 16.8 percent. In the Kyrenia region, AKEL took first place with 25.3 percent, while DISY remained at 21.8 percent.
Media headlines noted that while the election results did not completely change the political balance, voters appeared to be shifting toward more conservative and nationalist parties.
