Official results of the general election in Serbia announced
The Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) of Serbia has published the official results of the early general election held in the country on December 17, 2023.

In a statement issued by the RIK, it was stated that the "Aleksandar Vucic-Serbia Must Not Stop" alliance, led by the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), which has been in power since 2012 and is supported by President Aleksandar Vucic, won the election with 46 percent of the vote.
The statement reported that the SNS-led alliance won 129 seats in the 250-seat national parliament, while the "Serbia Against Violence" alliance, consisting of opposition parties, received 23 percent of the vote and won 65 seats in parliament.
According to RIK data, the "Ivica Dacic-Prime Minister of Serbia" alliance won 18 seats, the NADA coalition 13, the "We-Voice of the People" alliance 13, the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians list 6, the Usame Zukorlic-Justice for the Union list 2, the Party of Democratic Action-Sandzak (SDA Sandzak) 2, the Russian Party 1, and the Political Struggle of Albanians list 1 seat.
The statement, which recalled that 18 lists competed in the election, noted that in light of the official results, 10 lists qualified to enter parliament.
The statement announced that the results would be published in the official gazette.
In Serbia, the parliament is expected to convene within 30 days after the announcement of the official results, and a new government is expected to be formed within 90 days.
PROTESTS LASTED 13 DAYS
Meanwhile, immediately after the elections, the "Serbia Against Violence" alliance organized protests in the capital, Belgrade, with the participation of thousands of people, alleging "irregularities" in the voting process.
The opposition had demanded the cancellation of the elections during the protests they organized between December 18 and 30.
During the protests, demonstrators who tried to enter the Belgrade City Assembly building were intervened with tear gas, and protesters who threw torches at the City Assembly building broke the building's door, windows, and security camera.
Following the RIK's announcement that the objections made by the "Serbia Against Violence" alliance regarding the election were rejected, and with the intervention of the New Year and Orthodox Christmas holidays, the opposition wing last gathered on December 30.
The opposition had claimed that hundreds of people from the Republika Srpska (RS), one of the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, were brought to Belgrade by bus on December 17 and cast "illegal" votes.
