Oman announces: Meeting between Iran and Arab countries on the Strait of Hormuz agenda has been postponed

Oman has announced that the regional meeting planned to be held between Iran and Arab countries regarding the Strait of Hormuz has been postponed. The meeting was scheduled to take place in the Omani city of Salalah on September 14.

Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi announced the decision in a statement on his X account. Stating that the postponement was made to "ensure consensus," Albusaidi reiterated his country's commitment to fostering dialogue that supports stability and lasting cooperation in the region.

A statement regarding the postponement also came from Iran. In his assessment to the official Iranian news agency IRNA, Mohammad Alibek, Director of Persian Gulf Affairs at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said, "The decision to postpone was taken at the request of some regional countries and by the joint decision of Tehran and Muscat."

Gulf countries were also expected to attend the meeting, which was planned to be held at the level of foreign ministers. It had been stated that the meeting was intended to announce the agreement reportedly reached between Tehran and Muscat regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
