Pakistan bombs Afghanistan: Taliban issues statement

Pakistan has announced that it conducted airstrikes on shelters used by the Pakistani Taliban within Afghan territory.

According to a report by AA, citing two Pakistani government sources who requested anonymity, airstrikes were carried out on shelters allegedly belonging to the Pakistani Taliban in the Khost and Paktika provinces of Afghanistan, near the Pakistani border.

While the Pakistani military has not issued a statement on the matter, the Pakistani Taliban confirmed the attacks in a statement.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban administration in Afghanistan, reacted to the attacks in a statement, saying that 3 women and 3 children were killed in the strikes in the Barmal district of Paktika, and 2 women were killed in the strikes in Khost.

On March 16, a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attack was carried out against a military outpost in the North Waziristan region of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, followed by multiple suicide bombers targeting Pakistan.

In the attacks and the subsequent operation, 7 Pakistani soldiers lost their lives, and 6 attackers were killed.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari attended the soldiers' funeral and stated that there would be retaliation.
