Minister of Health Mai al-Kaila addressed the international community in a written statement following Israel's "demand for the immediate evacuation of Jerusalem Hospital."
APPEAL MADE TO PREVENT A BITTER TRAGEDY
Noting that Jerusalem Hospital is currently home to 400 patients and approximately 12 thousand civilians who have taken refuge there after fleeing Israeli attacks, al-Kaila recalled that Israeli authorities had issued a warning to the Palestine Red Crescent to evacuate the hospital. Al-Kaila stated, "The international community must act swiftly to prevent a repeat of the tragedy at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, where nearly 500 Palestinians were killed."
In the attack carried out by Israel on Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza on October 17, 471 people lost their lives, and 342 people were injured, 28 of them critically.
