Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez held talks in Egypt today following their meetings in Israel and Palestine yesterday.

Speaking to the press in Egypt, Sanchez signaled that Spain would recognize the Palestinian state in the near future.

Sanchez stated, "It is time for the international community and the European Union to recognize the Palestinian state. It is something that is worthwhile and important. We should do this together with the EU, but if the EU does not recognize the Palestinian state, Spain will make its own decision."

Since October 7, when the conflict between Israel and Hamas began, Spain has frequently experienced disagreements with the European Union countries of which it is a member.

Sanchez is conducting diplomacy to organize an international peace conference based on a two-state solution, provided that a permanent ceasefire is achieved between Israel and Palestine.
