Parliament dissolved
Following the failure of two consecutive governments to secure a vote of confidence, Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has decided to dissolve Parliament and call for early elections on December 28.

A statement from the Kosovo Presidency announced that Parliament has been dissolved by the signature of President Osmani. Osmani's decision to dissolve the assembly was made following consultations with the leaders of the country's political parties.
After the government proposed to Parliament by Albin Kurti, leader of the Vetëvendosje (Self-Determination) Movement—the winner of the February 9 general election—failed to receive a vote of confidence on October 26, Kosovo President Osmani had granted the mandate to form a government to Glauk Konjufca from the same party. The government proposed by Konjufca also failed to secure a vote of confidence from Parliament on November 19.
In a press conference, Osmani announced that following her meetings with political party leaders, she had decided to hold early general elections in the country on December 28.
FEBRUARY 9 ELECTION RESULTS
According to the official results of the February 9 election in Kosovo, Vetëvendosje won 48 of the 100 seats in the 120-seat Parliament, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) won 24, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) won 20, and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK)/NISMA won 8. The remaining 20 seats in Parliament are reserved for non-majority communities.
The formation process of the Parliament, which began on April 15, was delayed due to disagreements between parties regarding the election of the speaker and deputy speakers. The path to starting the new government formation process was cleared on October 10, following the completion of the election for the deputy speaker position reserved for the Serbian community.
Kurti, who was elected prime minister in 2021, continues to serve in the role as a new government has not yet been formed, despite his term having expired.
