Pentagon spokesperson Brigadier General Patrick Ryder answered questions from journalists at a daily press briefing.
In response to a question regarding whether Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin agrees with U.S. President Joe Biden's statement that "Israel is losing support due to its indiscriminate bombing in Gaza," Ryder replied, "Our support for Israel's right to defend itself is unwavering."
Noting that they will continue to expect Israel to conduct its operations in accordance with the law of armed conflict, Ryder stated, "We are emphasizing to Israel that it not only has a moral obligation to protect civilians, but that it is also a strategic imperative."
On the other hand, Ryder also shared the information that a total of 92 attacks have been carried out by Iranian-backed groups against U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria using drones and rockets since October 17.
