Peskov: We support Turkey's idea

Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, in a statement to journalists in Moscow, evaluated Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's remarks regarding the need to create a peace platform for the resolution of the Ukraine issue.

“SUCH A PLATFORM WOULD BE GOOD”

Peskov stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin supports the resolution of the Ukraine issue through diplomatic initiatives, saying, "Of course, we have never abandoned negotiations. On the contrary, we have always supported negotiations with the participation of all relevant parties. Currently, such a platform does not exist, and we agree with Fidan on this matter. If such a platform existed, it would certainly be good."

Hakan Fidan, in his speech at the Informal Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held in the city of Shusha, Azerbaijan, had stated, "As Turkey, we believe that efforts toward a lasting peace to end the war should be spread over a broader foundation. A peace platform that prevents the deepening of polarization, has high participation and representation, and prioritizes diplomacy must be created. As countries affected by various dimensions of the war, we must all work together in this direction with a complementary understanding."

In his speech, Fidan emphasized that efforts toward a lasting peace to end the war should be expanded, and stated that a peace platform that would prevent the increase of polarization, be strong in terms of participation and representation, and prioritize diplomacy should be established. He also expressed that countries affected by various dimensions of the war should make a joint effort toward this goal with a complementary approach.
