Pope calls for 'ceasefire' in Gaza: 'Enough, please'
Pope Francis, the spiritual leader of Catholics and Head of State of the Vatican, has called for a ceasefire regarding Israel's ongoing attacks in Gaza since October 7.

The Pope performed his traditional Sunday prayer from the window of his office overlooking St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.
"IT IS CAUSING TERRIBLE CONSEQUENCES"
Pope Francis stated, "I carry the suffering of the Palestinian and Israeli peoples in my heart every day due to the ongoing hostilities. There are thousands of dead and wounded, displaced people, there is destruction, and this situation is causing pain. It is having terrible consequences on small and defenseless people who see their future being jeopardized," he said.
"ENOUGH, PLEASE"
Explaining that he questions whether a better world can be built this way, the Pope said, "Do we really think we can reach peace this way? Please stop! We all say this: Enough, please."
CALL FOR CEASEFIRE
Pope Francis continued as follows:
"I encourage the continuation of negotiations for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and throughout the region, so that the hostages can be released immediately and return to their loved ones, and so that the civilian population can safely access the necessary and urgent humanitarian aid."
