Poured boiling water on her son for watching porn: Woman sentenced to prison

In Malaysia, a woman has been sentenced to three years in prison for pouring boiling water on her son after catching him watching porn on her phone.

LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST THE MOTHER

According to Politik Yol, citing the Malaysia-based newspaper Sinar Harian, the 38-year-old woman, who pleaded guilty to the incident that occurred in the city of Malacca in June 2022, was sentenced to prison.

The newspaper stated that the woman poured boiling water on her 13-year-old child after realizing he was watching porn on her phone.

Police intervened after a friend of the child saw the wounds caused by the boiling water, and a lawsuit was filed against the mother. The woman claimed she did it because he was 'using internet data to watch porn.'

"TO SERVE AS A LESSON TO THE PUBLIC"

The woman, who told the court she is a widow and a mother of five, requested a reduction in her sentence. Assistant Prosecutor Nazrin Ali Rahim requested a proportionate sentence 'to serve as a lesson to the defendant and the public.'

The court subsequently sentenced the woman to three years in prison, effective from July 8, 2023, the date of her arrest.
