President Biden to highlight crises in the Middle East at the UN General Assembly

U.S. President Joe Biden is expected to devote significant attention to current crises in the Middle East in his address to the United Nations (UN) General Assembly. Biden will address the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah.

Speaking at a teleconference press briefing held within the framework of the UN General Assembly agenda, a senior American official emphasized that Biden has a busy agenda filled with foreign policy issues this week. The official stated, "President Biden will assess the current situation in the Middle East, specifically addressing the various dimensions of the crises and discussing the steps necessary to ensure stability."

While the Biden administration stated that it continues its efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza, it was expressed that a potential ceasefire could also reduce Israel-Hezbollah tensions. The official added, "If a ceasefire is achieved, it could be possible for hostages to return home and for sufficient emergency humanitarian aid to be delivered to Gaza."

Furthermore, it was noted that Biden will draw attention to the conflicts in Gaza, Ukraine, and Sudan in his speech, emphasizing the need to increase humanitarian aid in these regions. President Biden is expected to address these critical issues at the final UN General Assembly meeting he will attend as president.
