Presidential election results in Uruguay have been announced
In the second round of the presidential election held in the South American country of Uruguay, left-wing candidate Yamandu Orsi emerged victorious.

According to exit polls conducted in Uruguay, the left-wing candidate for the opposition Broad Front (Frente Amplio), Yamandu Orsi, has secured the majority of the votes in the presidential race.
Alvaro Delgado of the ruling National Party (Partido Nacional) has conceded defeat.
Although the Uruguayan Electoral Court has not yet announced the official results of the vote count, President Luis Lacalle and ruling party candidate Delgado have congratulated Orsi on his election victory.
Stating that they respect the decision of the people, Delgado said, "Today the people, the Uruguayans, have decided who will be president, and from here I congratulate Yamandu Orsi and salute his party."
According to data from the consulting firm Equipos, Orsi placed first with 49.5 percent of the vote, while Delgado remained at 45.9 percent.
According to another research firm, Opción, Orsi finished the election in first place with 48.7 percent, and Delgado in second with 46.7 percent.
Orsi, who received the support of former President Jose Mujica, who led the country between 2010 and 2015, will be at the helm of the government for the 2025-2030 term.
The 57-year-old Orsi, a history teacher, political activist, and former mayor, has ended nine years of center-right rule.
