The Israeli army detained Palestinian lawmaker Khalida Jarrar in a raid on her home in the West Bank in the early hours of the morning.
'TERRORISM' CITED AS REASON
AFP reported that during the same raid, Israeli police also detained several members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), the political party to which 60-year-old Jarrar belongs.
The PFLP, which is part of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), is designated as a "terrorist organization" by Israel, the US, and the EU.
In a written statement, the Israeli army said, "The wanted terrorist Khalida Jarrar was detained along with other PFLP members."
WAS DETAINED IN 2019
Jarrar, who was detained by Israeli forces in 2019, was released in September after being held in prison for a year without trial.
The husband of the Palestinian political and civil society leader, Ghassan Jarrar, told AFP that Israeli soldiers raided their home at 5:00 AM and detained his wife.
Known for her work on women's rights and the rights of Palestinian prisoners, Jarrar was elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council in 2006 as a member of the PFLP.
