Putin in Kazakhstan for official visit

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Kazakhstan for an official visit.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, for a three-day official visit. The plane carrying Putin landed at Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport at approximately 20:30 local time.

Putin was welcomed at the airport by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev with a ceremony accompanied by a military band.

A small-scale military parade was held during the welcome. Additionally, two military helicopters carrying the flags of the two countries performed a flyover.

In his meeting with Tokayev, Putin is expected to discuss the current state and future of the comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance relations between Kazakhstan and Russia.

Tomorrow, Putin will attend the Eurasian Economic Forum, which will be hosted by Kazakhstan, alongside leaders of the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The Russian leader will also participate in the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting to be held on May 29.
