ABOUT THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

The country's Federation Council decided earlier this month that the presidential election would be held from March 15-17, 2024.

Russian President Putin had announced that he would be a candidate in the election and had sent a notification to the Central Election Commission regarding this.

Putin, who will participate in the election race as an independent candidate, will be supported in his election campaign by the "United Russia" party, which holds seats in the Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament.

The previous presidential election in Russia was held on March 18, 2018, and Putin was elected president with 76.69 percent of the vote.
