Putin makes statement on missile production

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council.

Recalling during the meeting that the US had withdrawn from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty by creating excuses, Putin said, "As you know, a few years ago, the US withdrew from this treaty under various pretexts and announced that it would produce missiles of this type."

Stating that they had previously made declarations that they would not produce these missile systems in response, Putin said, "In 2019, we announced that we would not produce these missiles and would not deploy them until the US deployed these systems in a specific region of the world.

We know that the US has not only produced these missile systems but has also brought them to Europe and Denmark for exercises. It was recently announced that they were in the Philippines," he stated.

"WE NEED TO MAKE A DECISION"

Pointing out that they must respond to these initiatives by the US, Putin said, "In any case, we need to react to this and make decisions about what we should do in this direction from now on.

It appears that we need to begin producing these strike systems and then decide where to deploy them to ensure our security based on the actual situation," he said.

Following his initial remarks, Putin asked for the opinions of Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the matter, and the meeting continued in a closed session.
