Putin's first statement on his meeting with Trump in Alaska: 'We have said this many times'

Russian President Vladimir Putin has made a statement regarding his meeting with US President Donald Trump in the US state of Alaska.

During a meeting with his presidential staff, ministers, and leaders of various government departments, the Russian leader evaluated the meeting held between Russia and the US yesterday, stating, "First of all, I would like to note that the meeting was timely and very useful.

We discussed almost all areas of our cooperation, but of course, our focus was on discussing the possibility of a fair resolution to the Ukraine crisis," he said.

TALKS LASTED APPROXIMATELY 3 HOURS

The talks held yesterday at the Elmendorf-Richardson Base in Alaska lasted approximately 3 hours, including a bilateral meeting between the leaders in Trump's private vehicle while traveling to the main negotiation area, followed by a meeting with three participants from each side. During the meeting, Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accompanied Putin, while US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio were present alongside Trump.

In the press conference held after the meeting, Putin stated that the Ukraine issue was at the top of the topics discussed by the two countries and described Trump's personal efforts to resolve the Ukraine problem as "valuable."

Putin also emphasized that Russia sincerely wants to end the war in Ukraine, stating, "The situation in Ukraine concerns fundamental threats to our security." The Russian leader said, "To make the solution permanent and long-term, we need to eliminate all the essential roots and fundamental causes of the conflict. We have said this many times.

All of Russia's legitimate concerns must be taken into account, and a fair security balance must be restored in Europe and in the world in general. As President Trump also said today, we naturally agree that Ukraine's security must also be ensured. Naturally, we are ready to work on this," he had said.

The Russian leader also called for turning a new page in bilateral relations and restarting cooperation, and invited Trump to Moscow.

TRUMP: A 10 OUT OF 10 MEETING

In a special statement to a television channel after the meeting, the US President said that many issues were put on the table but no official agreement was reached, stating, "From my perspective, there is no deal until there is a deal. But we have made a lot of progress." Despite this, Trump rated the summit they held with Putin as "10 out of 10," saying, "I think we are quite close to a deal. But Ukraine also needs to accept this. Maybe they will say 'no'."
