Statement from Putin on Turkey

Russian President Vladimir Putin received the credentials of 21 ambassadors who have begun their duties in Russia, including Turkey's Ambassador to Moscow Tanju Bilgiç, at the Kremlin Palace, and congratulated the diplomats.

"BOTH SIDES ARE DETERMINED TO DEVELOP TIES"

Evaluating the relations between Turkey and Russia, Putin said, "The partnership with Turkey is at the highest level and is based on experience gained in various fields over many years. Both sides are determined to further develop ties based on the principles of good neighborliness, partnership, and mutual interest."

Stating that he is in constant contact with President Erdoğan, Putin noted that all important issues regarding bilateral relations are discussed during these contacts.

"WE HAVE NUMEROUS JOINT PROJECTS IN THE COMMERCIAL SECTOR"

Putin stated the following:

"I would like to specifically emphasize that Russian-Turkish cooperation in the energy sector is truly strategic. Rosatom (Russia's State Nuclear Energy Corporation) continues to build the first nuclear power plant in Turkey, Akkuyu. Close cooperation has been established in the natural gas sector within the scope of operating the Blue Stream and TurkStream pipelines. Work is ongoing toward the establishment of a natural gas distribution hub in Turkey. We also have numerous interesting projects and joint work in the fields of trade and high technology."
