Racist attacks against Muslims in Austria on the rise
Racist attacks against Muslims in Austria continue to rise. A report prepared by the Documentation and Counseling Center for Muslims in Austria states that 1,522 racist attacks occurred last year in the country, where approximately 700,000 Muslims live.

The "2023 Anti-Muslim Racism Report," prepared by the Documentation and Counseling Center for Muslims in Austria, has been shared with the public.
Last year, 1,522 racist attacks were carried out against Muslims in the country.
This is the highest number since 2015, when attacks targeting Muslims in the country began to be recorded.
Most frequent on digital platforms at 66 percent
The report states that 46 percent of the attacks were carried out by individuals, while 13 percent occurred in various institutions and organizations. Seven percent were carried out by law enforcement agencies, and 6 percent were organized by various groups.
HATE-FILLED ATTACKS WERE CARRIED OUT
Racist and hate-filled attacks against Muslims were most frequently seen on digital platforms at 66 percent. The types of attacks that Muslims were subjected to were also included in the report.
Nineteen percent of the attacks consisted of insults directed at Islam and Muslims, 8 percent consisted of hate speech, and 7 percent consisted of vandalism.
