Russia launches operation in Aleppo
The Russian military has announced the launch of an operation against the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) armed group, which is advancing in Aleppo in northwestern Syria, and reported that airstrikes have been carried out against targets.

Clashes between the Bashar al-Assad regime and the armed group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in Aleppo, in northwestern Syria, have been ongoing for 3 days.
According to reports in Russian media, the Russian military announced that an operation has been launched against the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) armed group advancing in Aleppo in northwestern Syria, and that airstrikes were conducted as part of a “repulsion operation.”
The reports stated that a spokesperson for the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation in Syria declared, “The Russian air force is carrying out rocket attacks on the equipment and manpower of the armed groups, as well as their control points, depots, and artillery positions.”
Meanwhile, HTS has entered Aleppo, the country's second-largest city, for the first time since regime forces recaptured the city in 2016.
