While the climate crisis continues to make its impact felt every passing day, a notable step has been taken by Russia.

According to a report by Novye Izvestiya, starting from September 2025, the production and use of PET bottles other than blue, white, green, brown, and colorless ones will be banned in the food industry.

The purpose of the decision was stated as reducing the use of non-recyclable and non-processable PET packaging and encouraging the transition to more environmentally friendly products.

At the same time, the goal is to reduce the pressure on waste disposal sites and minimize environmental impacts. PET packaging is widely used, especially for food products such as water, carbonated drinks, and fruit juices.

Russia is following the steps taken by many countries around the world. The European Union, India, the USA, and China
