Russia points to Istanbul again for peace negotiations

Russian Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky, who heads the Russian delegation in the Russia-Ukraine negotiations, announced that he has submitted a proposal for the date and location for the second round of talks to the Ukrainian side.

Medinsky stated that Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov called him regarding the memorandum expected to be signed between Russia and Ukraine, and addressing reports that the Russian side was not in a hurry on this matter, he said, "Everything is almost like that. I called Umerov and proposed the exact date and location for a meeting to discuss the memorandum, which is a list of conditions for stopping the clashes."

"WE ARE WAITING FOR THEIR APPROVAL"

Emphasizing that they are ready for a second round of talks with Ukraine, Medinsky said, "I underline; we are ready to start discussing every single article of the potential ceasefire agreement there, immediately, in a concrete and substantive manner. The Ukrainian side has come together to consult. It seems the discussions are dragging on. We are waiting for their approval, and we are ready to meet face-to-face on the date we have set, in the coming days, and start working for long-term peace and the saving of human lives."

Russia and Ukraine held their first face-to-face talks since 2022 in Istanbul on May 16.
