Russia's intense attacks on Kyiv target civilians
Following Ukraine's attack on Russian air bases, Russia retaliated against Kyiv with more than 500 missiles and UAVs. As a result of the attacks, many civilians lost their lives, and the public spent the night in subway stations.

Russia carried out an intense missile and drone attack on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, throughout the night. These attacks followed Ukraine's drone operations targeting strategic bombers on Russian territory. Ukraine claimed that this operation rendered a significant portion of Russia's strategic nuclear bomber fleet inoperable.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that four people lost their lives and twenty were injured as a result of the attacks. Sixteen of the injured were taken to the hospital. The Ukrainian Air Force announced that they neutralized 406 out of a total of 452 Russian missiles and UAVs over Kyiv and other regions throughout the night. However, many missiles still caused significant damage in Kyiv.
Russia's attacks caused disruptions in the Kyiv subway line and led to problems in urban transportation. In the Solomianskyi district, a Russian UAV struck an apartment building, tearing a large hole in the structure and causing a fire. Fortunately, the building did not collapse, and a greater catastrophe was averted.
PEOPLE TOOK SHELTER IN SUBWAYS
In the late hours of the night, as residents of the capital sought shelter in subway stations and underground parking lots, other parts of the country were also affected by the attacks. In the western city of Ternopil, industrial facilities and infrastructure were targeted, leaving some areas without electricity. In the city of Lutsk, five people were injured.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the US and Europe to increase pressure on Russia. Zelenskyy stated, "If someone is not applying pressure and is allowing the war to continue taking lives, that is complicity."
