The humanitarian crisis in Gaza will also be among the important topics of the talks. Fidan will emphasize that the ceasefire achieved in the region must be made permanent. Lavrov last visited Turkey on October 18, 2024, within the scope of the 3+3 Regional Cooperation Platform Meeting. He last held a meeting with Minister Fidan in Johannesburg on February 20, within the framework of the G-20 Foreign Ministers Meeting. The two ministers also discussed regional and international issues during that meeting.
Turkey and Russia have carried out significant cooperation in areas such as energy, defense, and tourism in recent years. The trade volume between the two countries is increasing every year. Lavrov's visit is considered an important opportunity to further strengthen these collaborations.
