The US Secret Service made a post on the X platform to commemorate the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks. However, the post "accidentally" included Al-Qaeda militants among the victims. This was hastily removed from their social media accounts.
The deleted post by the US Secret Service read, “The flag flying at our headquarters is a solemn reminder of the events of 9/11 and the purpose of our mission. A testament to freedom and sacrifice, it honors the memory of the 2,996 people, including Special Officer Craig T. Miller and Special Agent Charles L. Friend.”
'WE APOLOGIZE FOR OUR MISTAKE'
Confirming the error in the deleted post, the Secret Service stated, “In the original message, we inadvertently listed the total death toll, which includes the (19) terrorists. We apologize for this error.”
