Sullivan answered questions from journalists at a press conference held at the White House.

Stating that the US is in talks with other countries about forming "maritime task forces" to prevent new attacks, Sullivan said, "We will take appropriate steps in consultation with others, and we will do so at a time and place of our choosing."

"IRAN IS ULTIMATELY RESPONSIBLE"

Sullivan noted that they were cautious regarding the incident in the southern Red Sea where the US Navy destroyer "USS Carney" responded to distress calls from commercial ships and shot down three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that were heading toward it while it was assisting the vessels.

Jake Sullivan argued that Iran is the "ultimate responsible" party for the attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) had announced that 4 attacks were carried out against 3 commercial ships in international waters in the southern Red Sea.

The statement reported that the US Navy destroyer "USS Carney" responded to the distress calls of the commercial ships and stated that the destroyer shot down 3 UAVs that were heading toward it while assisting the ships.
