Sharp response from Greenland to Trump's proposal

US President Donald Trump has once again expressed his desire to purchase Greenland. In a statement made via social media, Trump, who made promises of security and economic development to the people of Greenland, proposed that the island become a part of the US. However, these statements did not have the expected effect in Greenland and were perceived by many as disrespectful.

Greenland's Prime Minister Mute Egede stated that the US is not acting respectfully. Egede said, "We deserve respect, and I do not think the US President has shown that respect recently." Egede also noted that Trump's attitude is distancing the people of Greenland from the US.

EGEDE WANTS INDEPENDENCE

Greenland, as an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, has the right to determine its own future. Prime Minister Egede emphasized that he supports Greenland's independence and that they want to strengthen relations with respectful countries while building their future.

According to a report by Denmark's public broadcaster DR, a recent poll revealed that 85 percent of Greenlanders do not want to join the US. A significant portion of the participants stated that they perceive Trump's interest as a threat.

Greenland's economic structure relies heavily on fishing and subsidies from Denmark. Although Greenland possesses vast mineral deposits and energy resources, economic development is progressing slowly.
