'GREEN IS THE MOST POSITIVE COLOR'
The famous designer, who has painted her home's doors, stairs, kitchenware, and many other things green, stated, "I'm always doing something to be happy. Green is the most positive and happiest color. Maybe it's because I grew up in Nova Scotia and missed having green around me after moving to New York."
WHO IS ELIZABETH SWEETHEART (ELIZABETH EATON ROSENTHAL)?
Elizabeth Eaton Rosenthal, also known as Elizabeth Sweetheart, was born in Nova Scotia in 1941. She is an artist and fabric designer.
She received fine arts training from the famous Canadian painter Alex Colville.
Unable to find a suitable job in Canada, Eaton hitchhiked to New York in 1964. Upon arriving at the New York Unemployment Office with only a pillow and a sketchbook, she was immediately sent to a job interview. She began working in the art department at the Garment Center.
In 1987, she founded her own design company, SweetPea Design Studio, which she ran for 15 years. Later, she managed a small art business, where she focused on expanding and selling fabrics from her well-stocked collection of vintage design fabrics.
