Shock in Israel! War cabinet member resigns

Crisis in Israel's war cabinet. Israeli War Cabinet member Benny Gantz announced his resignation during a press conference, stating that his party is withdrawing from the coalition government.

Gantz said, "My party joined the coalition for the good of the country, even though we knew it was a bad government after October 7. Since then, strategic assessments have always been pushed aside for political reasons."

Stating that the Israeli people deserve more than "empty promises," Gantz said, "Unfortunately, Netanyahu is preventing us from reaching a real victory."

HE CALLED ON NETANYAHU TO HOLD ELECTIONS

Calling on Netanyahu to hold elections, Gantz said, "To achieve a real victory and regain the public's trust, it would be appropriate to go to elections in the fall. I am addressing Netanyahu: Set an agreed-upon election date. Do not let our people be torn apart."

Addressing Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Gantz said, "Yoav, we have known each other for many years. Even when there were tensions between us, I have always respected and appreciated you. I learned to appreciate you even more during this war. You are a brave and determined leader, and above all, a patriot. At this time, leadership and courage mean not just saying the right thing, but doing the right thing."

"I STAND BEHIND THE BIDEN PROPOSAL"

Apologizing to the families of the hostages, Gantz said, "We did a lot, but we failed when it came to achieving results. We have not yet been able to bring many of them home. The responsibility for this lies with me."

Gantz, who also fully supports the ceasefire plan for the Gaza Strip presented by US President Joe Biden, stated, "I stand behind the draft we received in the war cabinet, the principles of which were presented by President Biden. I want the Prime Minister to show the necessary courage to stand behind this and do everything to advance it."

Emphasizing that he may still support some government moves despite moving to the opposition, Gantz said, "I commit today that while in the opposition, we will support every responsible plan. We will support Israeli society and every correct move the government makes. When we go to demonstrate, we will do so in accordance with the law, with solidarity and a desire to embark on a new path, not with hatred."

NETANYAHU: THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO ABANDON THE FRONT

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Gantz, "This is not the time to abandon the front."
